How far do you have to go to get your nerd fix? 6 Replies

I grew up in the middle of nowhere. Our house was literally surrounded by soybeans, corn and hay. I went to school 15 miles from home and decent stores were about 30 miles away. I live in a bigger…Continue

I haven't been to the QC in probably 9 years. I think the last time I was there, it was to see Toby Keith in concert.

My parents still live in a nowhere near anything area, too. The only thing that changes is soybeans to corn to soybeans to corn. LOL

Representing the Quad Cities... Bettendorf, IA. I'm "in the city" now but I grew up on an acreage nowhere near anything. My parents still live there!

Hahahaha...My obsession with mullets is admittedly unnatural, but I'll leave the wearing of them to the menfolk in our family.

A dark, dark history...The Mexlet.

Nice Jessi. Taking pot shots at my Hanson fandom before I knew you were even making fun of me on the internetz. *shakes fist at you*  I admit it. Loved them and still do, and my husband has been converted!

Not like this is any news to the Jessi, but I was born in Illinois and lived there until fairly recently. My geek by marriage got a job with Rayovac in Madison, so now we are Wisconsinites. We have to anticipate driving at least 35 minutes into Madison to get our nerd fix on.... And if the roads are bad there is no going anywhere.

PS. Jessi loves mullets... She has been resisting the urge to sport one for some time. She is lucky to have a sister like me to talk her out of it. Chicklets just aren't cool.

Yeah it's hard to leave apparently. We just passed the Aurora Outlets on the way to my sister's. (Really wanted to stop at Vera Bradley)She's in Plano. There are so many strip malls and subdivisions out there now! Right in the middle of corn fields and soy beans. LOL

You say no offense like I'm into mullets. I think there may be a breakdown in communication here. LOL

Yes, Garth Brooks, Shannon Miller, Adrian Peterson, Wayne Coyne, Ree Drummond...

Before Toby was big he had a lame video on a local television station.  I would also laugh at his mullet. (no offense)

Amy~ I actually liked Toby Keith until I saw him in concert. He just stood there. No showmanship. Very disappointing. You own claim to fame on Garth Brooks, too don't you?

Jen~I started out in Aurora, but moved to bufu when I was 8. Moved around Illinois a few times, but have yet to break free. Ahh...who am I kidding? I like it here.
