Kids have a tendency to pick up what their parents are "into," at least in the beginning. With little other influence the early years are all about mom and dad.

For example, I'm a total music geek. I love most genres, so it's nothing for my kids to hear Mozart, Etta James, The Temptations, Dashboard Confessional, Garth Brooks and Poison in a single day. I've always been about providing my children with movies and CDs with a strong musical influence from Little Einsteins to Veggie Tales to classics Seven Brides for Seven Brothers and Les Miserables (I'm totally not kidding, btw). My parents were music lovers. My siblings and I are music lovers. And now, my kids are music lovers. They're open to anything and you're just as likely to hear them singing My Girl as the Alphabet Song.

On the other hand, you'd better be armed if you think you're going to get me to ANYTHING having to do with NASCAR. Therefore, other than watching Disney's Cars, my kids have no clue what it is...and I hope they don't figure it out, muahahahahaha.

My boys like comic books, horror flicks, music and superheroes. They do experiments with their dad and "air conduct" symphonies with me. I know they're geekward bound and I'm good with that. Of course, I'll support whatever their passions are as they grow and learn more about the world, but I think we've laid some solid nerd foundations.

Are you creating a nerd legacy?

Per our hilarious convos on twitter you know I am!!!!  I have a 4 year old that has tea parties with her princesses and vampire babies. LOL My kids like anything from Rush to Aerosmith to Lady Gaga musically speaking. Nothing like seeing a 4 yr old (when my son was) rock out to Pretty Fly For A White Guy. :)

Vampire babies...that still slays me. Ba dum pum.

When Jax was 2, his favorite song was My Sharona. He'd get down like crazy. It was awesome!

My kids (almost 5, 10, & 11) are all gamers, book geeks, music snobs, and movie nerds. They even have their own personal blogs and started their own joint book blog (http://booksnatchers.tbfreviews.net)! LOVE it!

Hubby, kids, and I are even thinking about starting a game review blog. We're just trying to come up with the perfect blog name for it.

Vampire babies?! LOVE it!

My kids are still pretty young, but they're on their way! It sound like your kids are rockin' the web!

I think a family game review site is an awesome idea. There are a ton of things you can do with that! Love it!

Definitely! my 2 oldest kick butt on video games and computers. While I feel the need to let kids figure out who they are, I don't encourage followers. My husband and I are both gamers, bookworms, etc... The boys already have so much knowledge about all that is star wars, video games, fave music artists including: Beatles, Neil young & Bob Dylan to name a few. Last Halloween they had us dress as the Mario cast, which they decided the year before...it is so much fun sharing each others hobbies.
I've always wanted to do a family Halloween costume theme. That would be so much fun. Mario...awesome.
this year they have star wars planned. they decided November 1, 2010 :)
